Fifth Annual Human Rights Day Celebration & Fundraiser

Join RCF for our Fifth Annual Human Rights Day Celebration and Fundraising Brunch on Sunday, December 10th at 11 am at the Abigail Stuart House in Downtown Olympia. Donate to our Giving Tree, enjoy a traditional Middle Eastern brunch by Nineveh, live music with Miguel and Daniel Perez-Gibson, and indulge in a Mimosa and Bloody Mary bar! In addition to our usual celebratory offerings, we are thrilled to have Aneelah Afzali as our guest speaker for this event. Bring a friend, come with an open heart, and enjoy yourselves!

The event runs from 11am to 2pm, with official programming beginning at 11:30 am.

ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER

Aneelah Afzali is the founder and Executive Director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network (AMEN), a new initiative of the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS). She also serves as a Board Member of the Faith Action Network and on the Steering Committee of the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network. Aneelah is an attorney and graduate of Harvard Law School who made partner at a law firm and led as General Counsel of a local healthcare IT company. In addition to her legal practice, Aneelah co-founded MELAW -- the Middle Eastern Legal Association of Washington -- and served as inaugural president for two years. Four years ago, Aneelah took a break from her legal career to pursue service and knowledge, two things her faith emphasizes. Since then, she has served as a community activist, interfaith leader, civil rights advocate, and seeker of knowledge. Aneelah graduated from the University of Oregon Honors College and was named a Chayes International Service Fellow at Harvard Law School. She enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and football, and is a proud Seahawks and Ducks fan!
